The Junior AwardJASS – Junior Award Scheme for Schools Scheme for Schools (JASS) is a precursor to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE). This programme allows children to explore their interests, get active, try new things and help their community. The Blue Award (Year 5) requires a physical folder to be completed, and the Bronze Award (Year 6) is eJASS (100% online). When they complete and present evidence for the activities, they will receive a certificate and Blue/Bronze Award badge which can be worn on their Buckton Vale and Mossley Hollins uniform (if they move on to that particular high school). Year 5 children can complete the Blue Award, and then the Bronze Award in Year 6. It is the same scheme, but the hours required are different. If they do both the Blue and Bronze Awards during their time at Buckton Vale, it will give them a chance to try even more new things. If they move on to Mossley Hollins, they can then complete the Silver and Gold Awards – followed by the DofE. With JASS on their CV, their application for the DofE will certainly look more attractive. It caters for all abilities and backgrounds, and empowers each and every child, whatever their circumstances. For more information, please visit their website: https://www.jasschools.org.uk/
